Mothers have been resigned to the sidelines for years. Told to not don armor because they are not meant to be the ones to fight. Told to step back, sit down, mind the children, stay in the kitchen. But God has called you for so much more than silence. We have heard Ephesians 6 spoke of in church, in study, and in word but have we stopped to think of what that truly means as moms. We have been taught over and over what it means to submit, to bow, to humble, to quiet, to hush ourselves for others but I think sometimes we forget that Mothers also have the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is inside of us. His Spirit gives us life from the inside out. That Spirit conquered death and He resides in YOU (Romans 8:11). It is no more or no less than anyone who is a believer, you are not filled with less because you are a woman or because you are a mother.
Mothers know toil as we work the dirt for our gardens, balance the checkbook, stand over a hot stove with a baby on our hip.
Mothers know what pain is as we have endured the aching hips of pregnancy, roared as we pressed our children from womb to earth.
Mothers know what spiritual battles look like as we have wept over our children and husbands as we stormed heaven with our prayers.
Mothers know we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but that we fight against an enemy we cannot see with our eyes but we can sense with our spirit.
Mothers have God ordained armor that sometimes we leave behind believing it’s the men’s job to fight.
This is a call to arms!
We fight for the Lord and we fight for our families, for our husbands, for our children. Mothers put on your belt of truth! Ephesians 6:14 Mothers put on your breastplate of righteousness! Ephesians 6:14 Mothers put on your shoes, your feet wrapped in the gospel of peace! Ephesians 6:15 Mothers grab your shield of faith! Ephesians 6:16 Mothers prepare yourself to extinguish the flaming arrows of the enemy! Ephesians 6:16 Mothers put on your helmet of salvation! Ephesians 6:17 Mothers grab your sword of the spirit! Ephesians 6:17 Mothers prepare yourself for battle! We do not battle against flesh and blood but against enemies we cannot see. Ephesians 6:12
Do not let anyone take that God-ordained armor from you.
